Most of us golfers like to just get out on the links, hit a couple buckets of balls, some chips, putts, and then go out for our 18 hoping that usual nagging injury or problem doesn’t rear it’s head again. Most of us can improve some of our mobility and strength to help improve our golf game. Okay, maybe it won’t lower your score, but it will help reduce your risk for injury, and hey, maybe it will add a few yards to each club ;-).
Check out the following mobility, including our quick and easy dynamic warmup, and strength exercises to help keep you shooting 18 with less pain. If you are limited by pain and unable to clear it with these tips, schedule your Physical Therapy appointment today at this link. Mobility Exercises for Golfers
The dynamic warmup below can be helpful to maximize your mobility before you go out for your round. The rest are great ways to improve your mobility. Ideally, you would work on some of these daily spending anywhere from 30 seconds up to 3 minutes per exercise (doesn’t have to be all in one session) but some is better than none.
Strengthening Exercises for Golfers
The goal of strength is primarily to reduce common injuries, but can certainly add some yards to each club as well. Ideally, you would perform 3×10 of 2-4 of the core, lower, and upper body exercises 2-3x/wk. You can check out our 7 Foundational Movement Patterns blog to make sure you hit all the primary movement patterns.
We hope these tips and resources are helpful for your to maximize your performance and time on the links and minimize your injuries.
